Edward Redder, J.D. Thompson Hine LLP
Ed Redder is a member of Thompson Hine’s employee benefits and executive compensation practice group. In his role, he counsels clients on health, welfare and retirement plan regulations, as well as Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) compliance. He previously served as assistant general counsel at Nationwide Insurance Company, advising the organization on various employee benefit matters, including ERISA fiduciary and qualified retirement plan issues.
He obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Muskingum University and his Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law. With a career dedicated to excellence in employee benefits and ERISA law, he has been consistently recognized for his legal expertise. He has received numerous distinctions, including selection for The Best Lawyers in America (2021-2025) for ERISA law and recognition in The Legal 500. He holds an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer rating for professional excellence, and was honored as an Outstanding Lawyer by the Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project in 2003. He currently serves as president and on the board of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA) Benefits Council of Central Ohio and is an employee benefits committee member for the Columbus Bar Association. He has also contributed to over 25 employee benefits and compensation publications.
