About the Event
Diabetes is an epidemic that is driving health costs higher and productivity in the workplace lower. It accounts for approximately 1 in 4 health care dollars spent, largely driven by our failure to enable patients to successfully manage their disease. Diabetes causes 16 million ER visits per year and 7.8 million inpatient hospital stays in a patient population of 37 million.
The good news is that diabetes can be effectively managed if affordable access is given to the resources patients need.
In this webcast led by the Diabetes Leadership Council and JDRF, you will hear medical, policy and plan experts share the state of diabetes management and prevention as well as insurance market dynamics influencing cost and coverage. We will also discuss the role pharmacy benefit managers are playing in disease management and plan design issues that cause reduced compliance of critical chronic disease management therapies. Attendees will discover:
- How diabetes impacts overall health plan risk and costs and its disproportionate impact on communities of color.
- Recent innovations in medicines and technologies that enable individualized approaches to manage this disease, greatly reduce complications and prevent Type 2 diabetes.
- Key health plan design features and concrete steps your organization can take now to manage plan risk, reduce costs and improve care.
